I've still been hard at work on future Axolotl books, but its slow going when you have to wait for a company to get everything oranized on their end first. Plus I got that whole masters thing taking up time. But its important to keep busy, so I'm using some of my ecological and environmental studies to examine art and pop culture in new ways. Right now I'm writing a very, very silly blog about applying evolutionary biology and ecology to the world of Super Mario Bros. What kind of fossil record would give rise to bipedal turtles, semi-intelligent carnivorous plants, and a "dinosaur" with a cloaca on its face? There's just one post so far, but

Wow! The first book in the Academic Axolotl kids book series is now available. This caught me off guard, I thought it wasn't going to be available until later. It's called "Micro Animals" and is all about the wonderful world that exists beyond our eyesight and the creatures that live there. I've always thought that "copepod" and "tardigrade" should be household names, and with this book I am one step closer to making that a reality! You can check out the ebook here. So after a fairly good summer of weekly comics, you may have noticed that not a lot has been happening here. There are two reasons for that. The unpleasant reason is that I am currently suffering from a massive viral infection and have been unable to do much other than mouth obscenities and thrash about in pain. The second, much more pleasant and much more important reason is that I have been hard at work on a larger Academic Axolotl project. I'm very proud to announce that I've been offered the chance to do a series of digital Academic Axolotl kids books!
